Drawing on historical sources, archaeological sites, artefacts and place-names, the Breckland Society’s 128-page River Raiders report presents an overview of the history and archaeology of the Anglo-Saxon and Viking periods in the Breckland area of East Anglia.
Edited and type-set by me, the report was researched and written by volunteers working with the Breckland Society on one of many projects undertaken as part of the Brecks Fen Edge and Rivers (BFER) Landscape Partnership Scheme.
The River Raiders project fed into the Vikings: History on Your Doorstep exhibition, which ran at Thetford’s Ancient House Museum between July 2022 and July 2023, and included Viking artefacts from across East Anglia.
